I have not had them dissapear, but you can lay down a layer of paper towel, and place the seeds onto that.

Do you just sprinkle them on top and let them find there own spot or do you push them under a little?

Well if you folllow the moon phase thing, I believe carrots are best planted after the full moon and before last quarter (after 3 Oct 09 to before 11 Oct 09). And I also drop the carrot seeds directly in the growbeds. You will be surprised how nature finds its way. Just drop scattered them around the growbeds, no need to push them in.

I think there is some info in this forum about the moon phase thing, or search the web.

Or ask Creative1, he the guru and also wrote an article in BYAP Magazine Issue 4.

Yes, as far as I can, I follow the moon phase. I figured that following a set of guidelines that may help better growth will be a bonus if it really does work.

After monitoring the plants, I think there is some truth in it. Some above ground growth were growing really slowly until a day or two ago (new moon), it started bolting up. All above ground growth should continue bolting until Oct 4 09, where the focus changes to below ground growth.

I have had my IBC filled properly for a few days with an 8000ltr/hour pump and venturi running continuously. How long should I leave it to ensure all the chorine has gone.
I can't really smell it or taste it but I want to be sure before buying some new fish.

Get some cheap goldfish first, if they survive a week, your ready for fish, providing your readings are good.

Use a cheap swimming pool chlorine test kit, it works very well. I use one on construction sites to tell whether the water pipe we have just dug up is stormwater (no Chlorine) or Town Water (Chlorine!!)

Cheers IanK

Planting by the moon works for me.
I direct sow, but with some of the lighter mote prone to being airborne seeds, I water them in.
No point with seedlings until you're cycled IMHO, but seeds will take a few weeks, so it shouldn't hurt to try seeding before cycling is complete.

Thanks for that OBO but the cheapest Goldies I can find are $2.00 each.
I can get Silver Perch for $1.40 from Gidgi.
Anyone know of cheap goldies in Perth southern suburbs?
Ian I will try the chlorine test as well.

Ask your LFS for what are called 'feeder fish' small ones can be as cheap as $0.30ea. But it depends on the LFS so shop around.
