The Perth Royal show is coming up in a little over two weeks, and this year the show will be showcasing aquaculture as a special feature. Calinda from the Woodvale fish and lily farm has been pushing for an aquaculture attraction at the royal show for many years and this year she got her wish. Calinda contacted us many months ago to offer us a main position in the pavilion and we've been working with her in preparation for the event since then. Today was the media launch for the royal show where all of the TV stations, newspapers and magazines come along to get footage and pictures for promotion purposes. We had been setting up a display over the past couple of days and today it all came together.

Of course there were the obligatory farm animals and they even brought in a few "stunt" families for the day for promotional purposes.


This whole pavilion is going to be filled with aquaculture type displays over the next 2-3 weeks.

And down at one end you can see a bit of a stage and kitchen.

This is where Faye will be giving cooking demonstrations every day of the show using fresh aquaponics produce.

We have been lucky to get one of the largest display areas, this was our initial display for the media launch, we still have more to add including display boards and more components.

I was an interesting morning, very mixed bunch there, from acrobats through to fruit carving demonstrations. here are a few more smaller photos of random stuff, including the beautiful fruit and vegetable carving.

Yep, just checked online for the daily highlights and there will be filleting demonstrations, aquaculture demonstrations, yabby cooking demos, as well as Fayes cooking demonstrations. Sounds like it's going to be busy in there...

what are we havin for lunch faye

Spicy fish curry, bruschetta, or yabby and herb pizza.... Depends on the day... I might try experimenting with a smoked trout pizza over the next couple of weeks.

For Perth viewers Channel 10 just had todays footage on air and Rick Arden just announced that Channel 7 news will be featuring all the fun of the fair commencing from 6pm, 5 minutes from now.
Tea 20 lunch will be on request and have tried to ensure a coffe machine for the event.

Carl noticed someone had moved stuff around at the display, stuck some cloud background screen in front of the big fish tanks we had.

well either way, I'm definitely coming to check your display out... it looks fantastic!

Hope there will be trouts there... they are certainly enjoyable to feed...

I can hear it now Security to the South West corner of the building, fish poachers in action.
