VB, agree with all you have said. I guess it depends on your idea of snobbery. "gravel clogged in our research" is vastly different to "you don't want to use gravel, it clogs". Know what i mean? :)

This is why aquaponics has taken sooooo long to rear it head again, it not a new technology. Its just that for the past 50 years every one has quoted 3 or so studies that "found" aquaponics not to be viable.......see the connection.

Anyway, not disrespecting anyone, its just a sticking point with me when people don't differentiate "it didn't work for me" and "it doesn't work"

The 'right' people were chosen to do the studies.
'bout time the real right people got of there bums like we are and proved this thing works, I feel we(I) have lept a few levels in my understanding of the broader sense of aquaponics.
Lets say without the intricate knowlege I have a much better understanding.
I have u guys to thank. TA

Yeah. I'm grateful for everything these guys do and pass on. But they aren't the only intellects working full time in aquaponics experimentation. We have a few of our own.

I agree continuous flow clogs everything, why, it grows even faster!

This is not a discouraging sign, it's an indicator we need growbeds design for super plants.

has anyone experimented with larger aggregate sizes say 30 to 50mm like the kind used for septic tank transpiration trenches?

Murray has used 20mm drainage gravel and it appears to be working well
