Thanks for the help. I have ordered some preditor mites, since I have a really bad problem. I have been reading about good and bad bugs in gardens, quite interesting. I will let you know how they do. There is also a debuty in Sanford that has a system at the women's correctional facility. I have e-mailed her as I would like to see what she has. See the u-tube of what she is doing at http://www.ecofactory.com/community/gre ... oor-garden.
Thanks Rup about the info to find the potassium with wine suppliers, I would have never thought of that. I will also take a trip to Ace, thanks TC

Joyce, in one of your photo's a few pages back it looks like there is surface water in your growbed (s) you really do not want this - it promotes pests, and plant rot.

Wow thanks for posting that link about the Sanford, Florida Woman's Correctional institute, I had no idea they were doing Aquaponics over there.

Ya might need to plant some sorghum to help keep your predator mites happy. On that video, they mentioned planting papaya to attract whitefly predator wasps and sorghum for predator mites.

I was looking at the beneficial plant to attract both the good and bad bugs. What a good idea.

Hi Outbackozzie:
I think the one you are lookiing at is one with watercress growing in it. I had put the level of the ones with watercress highter because this plant is found in streams and such. Should I lower the level of the water? Does watercress need more water to survive?

Most plants don't like water over the surface of the gravel and it can cause algae on the surface and perhaps also attract mosquitoes. Those would be the reasons not to have the water come up over the surface, if they are not problems to you, then I expect the watercress to be able to survive most anything you do to it so long as it can find water somewhere in the bed.
