Mattyry... you could consider the Tilkey budget troughs... not sure of price now... they were around $130... can source them from Landmark at Ballerat..

"Kenour" used them, as did "Aussieponics" and "Elkaybee"... the do need to be braced though.... here's a link to Kenours system... and Landmark info...

My plastic 600L GBs were not expensive, around $120 I think.
Have a look at user: kennour's thread. They're mentioned there, along with contact details.

And they don't need to be braced. they do bow out a bit, but don't require bracing.

guys (& girls??)

Thanks for the replys,
I did think of the blue drums and found that the cost of setting them up with stands and all the fittings would cost as much it would if I was to spend the money 1 or 2 large beds. (Which personally I don't like the look of.)
In regards to using IBC's in half as growbeds, looks good for veggies that are water hungry and understand that it will give me the volume of growbed media to habour the bacteria, but will not give me the surface area that I'm after to grow the max amount of veggies I'm after, I'm hoping that the GB's is no larger than 1800mm X 1800mm X 300mm
I'm a fan of the "Tilkey budget troughs"
is there any place closer to Melbourne that thay can be purchased?

KudaPucat:
It seems by your profile that you live in the bundoora area!
I live in the Mill Park area,
Any chance of visiting your system to get a bit of an idea in regards to setting up my system? (At your conveinance of course)

Regards Matt.

Sure Matt, I'll PM you.

Also, if you'd read the threads regarding Tilkey budget tubs properly, you may have noted that Landmark Ballarrat delivered them to Bundoora for 0 cost. Their distribution warehouse is in Footscray or somewhere so it costs them the same as having it shipped to their shop.

Read the pertinent parts of Kennour's thread and mine to find the name of the fellow we dealt with. I will warn you no other person in that store will have any idea what you're after. Perhaps if you get a photo and email it to them they might.

Well well well! I just got a call from Simon from Landmark Ballarat, I told them about those tilkey tubs, and guess what?! They're getting them in for me, and at the same price! $130 for black, $155 for green :) So for all you Victorians that were looking for a cheapish solution for attractiveish growbeds, I present you le solution magnifique! :P

Called Simon from "Landmarks" today and can still get the troughs at the same price.

ordering 2 of them once the finer details are done.
thanks for all the help.
will post some progress photos and my system soon.

Matt
