just a warning ibc's are not uv stabelised if you leave them in the sun they will go brittle and crack may take a couple of years but it will happen [ we have had 6 in the recycling center the last month] if you paint the plastic it will last a lot longer

Out of what? Maybe canvas or something. Would have to stop the UV rays of course. Could always bury it - or maybe build a wooden house for it (ply??).

......or you could hang a bit of reo mesh off of the sides and grow stuff up against it.

I wonder how you'd go if you made a cover over the top of it made with lazerlight sheeting. It's supposed to stop 100% of UV light and my tank is burried so I just need to cover the top..

Just paint them with solargard see my thread sorry for the alarm fellars but i see everybody using ibc and dident want to see a heep of blokes in a few years time with long faces chenical companys are only allowed to use them for a couple of years thats why there are so many secondhand ones around

thanks for the info F&F - I had an IBC down on my "fish tank proposal" list, luckily my idea is to have it under cover (may still gowith a larger tank tho)
