Well not changing anything... Just only dumping excess water as the rain filled the tank to the top and I don't want my galv mesh to be soaked in the water.

For the first time, I am actually seeing growth in the plants. And if Creative1 is right about the moon thingy, I should see them start to bolt up in a week or two with the new moon cycle coming shortly. Will be putting more seeds into the growbed this weekend.

Hmm... I think C1 is still away... so hopefully he did not hear you....

Did a water test today at 6pm.

Results as per photo.

Ammonia is almost zero, if not already zero. But nitrite is still 1 or greater...
Why wouldn't it come down??

So I presume I should resume feeding?? Slowly increase the feed while monitoring ammonia and nitrite
levels??

I would Ivan, if amm goes up then cut it, works for me, I wouldn't test everyday, with 13 or so fish you shouldn't have to many problems,

Did a "mini water test" today 7.00pm.

Amm - 0.25
Nitrite - looks like 1

This result was after I fed 1 tablespoon in the morning and 1 tablespoon in the evening on both Sat and Sun. Gone back to 1 tablespoon per day today and will stick at that until Thursday, when I will test the water to determine if I should up the feed.

By the way, I noticed more shit at the bottom of the tank. Is this normal? I am quite certain it is not uneaten food as I now only feed the fishes when there is light and I do controlled feeding (ie. throw in food in small batches) as well and wait til they finish splashing before throwing in the next lot.

Maybe I should investigate into getting another air-pump with air-hose solely to stir the shit up from the bottom so that they can be sucked out, as the area around the existing air-stones is fairly clean and don't have shit close by.

Ivan I don't have a problem with crap, air seems to keep it a float and pump gets rid of it, I would be scooping it up to see if it is food, I feed mine also closer to a time my pump switches on as they stir the water up heaps when they feed, but even if it's shit sweep it towards the pump or scoop it out

Well I scoop the black stuff out, most of it anyway. Looks more like grey looking slimey shit... There are also some very small black particles... I doubt it's uneaten food, but I watched closely today that all food is consumed. So if it appears again in a few days, then it must be fish poo.

Luckily the fishes know how to differentiate which is my hand and which are the food. They went almost berserk when I threw in the food today.
