Greetings everyone!
I was wondering about mustard lettuce. I'm not even entirely sure thats its name, but will call it that for now(untill someone corrects me  )

My main question is will it do better in an NFT system or flood and drain. It looks and seems alot like lettuce, therefore I should think it would grow quite well in an NFT system.

Anyone else grow it? Many thanks!

Cheers,

Michael

Hey thanks!

Chappo, does temperature affect plants in an NFT system? My water temp would be more or less 20-23 degrees C.

Cheers!

All plants are affected by temps ..... with the Mustard lettuce i think they tend to go bitter in warmer temps. Some people may actually prefer that bitterness , but I think most would prefer it light and tender.

water can tend to get warm in NFT so it might not be the best place to try to grow out of season crops. If you intend to harvest lots of baby greens then NFT might be fine. If you like to continually harvest outside leaves and let the plants keep growing big, root blockage of NFT pipes might become more of a problem and flood and drain might be a better choice.
