Yep... they're ball valves GotFish.... so you can't get your growbeds to flood to the right level???

what sort of siphon setup do you have? .... sounds like you need to set your siphon level...

You adjust your flow rate with the ball valves so that the siphon initiates/breaks without over flooding the growbeds..

when i say even i mean with a lot of fiddling i can get it so either the first or last bed floods over gravel level - if its the first then the last will just stay under gravel level but the middle bed is only filled 5cm (at least another 20 to go)

the flow i have is http://www.rockaroundtheblock.com.au/pr ... 3&c=111728

my beds are 1m up so 2400l/hr

Rupert no siphons am using cheese graters and riser thingies. I used to have a pic cant find 1 now.

Back after a convalescence in hospital.
Barra after 6mths (1 dead was 400gms) so looking good - harvest 1 this weekend :)

My father is coming up shortly and we will look at a solar back up for air bubbler and expanding the size of of the sump ( currently a half ibc - and works well) increasing it to 4m long x 1m wide x 50cm. This will have to be wood made and done using a pond liner. It will thgen be placed onto the concrete slab o of my system. I am hoping please reassure me if can it will support another 1.5 ibc's detailed below (baths will be 1000l not taking off the 50% for gravel displacement)

I have no idea on building logistics and am concerned about e.g. if you use treated wood can it still be a prob - i guess not because of pond liner (if seeps in it will seep out not through pond liner)

I have been looking at http://www.backyardpuddle.com/diy/index.htm just for very basics. and i thing TCLynx did something similar

This expansion is to support another ibc (housed for mature redclaw) and and a half ibc (hgoused for juvenile redclaw). Current plan anyway otherwise - more baths and ibc for barra.

Any help with above please

keep in mind above q's e.g. building sump

but    (bugger) my fish tank ibc has started to leak at the bottom. this could have happened at a worse time but not sure when :x :x
options:
-harvest all fish and put pond liner in tank this may be lower cost (wont be able to see fish or deads will iwith black pondliner)
-get new tank not ibc (too $ atm)
-other options??

if go pondliner will use on all my ibc's (redclaw too)

unfortunately not byap tanks close :(

no idea on how much pondliner to get relative to size of tank or anything re pondliner need to read up

help / experiences welcome please

Could try "kneadit".... but it doesn't stick to polyethylene plastics... but might be OK with an IBC.... test it for adherance... http://www.selleys.com.au/Selleys-Knead ... fault.aspx
