No what you mean, I've got 2 anti-albino goldfish ( they are "black" and "black" goldfish didn't sound right) in the black plastic tank, the only time I see them is when food disappears - well I think its them :sad5:

Love that white canoe and the landing dock in the background :laughing3:

okay, after a couple of days finding dessicated fish beside the tank (no obvious injuries), we came to the conclusion that it was not the birds getting at the fish, but the largest spangled perch feeling his oats. When we first put the fish in, he staked out his space under the ladder and chased the other fish away when they came near. I was finding the dried fish just downstream of the ladder... he must have been REALLY chasing these fish and they jumped out of the tank

So, since the addition of the floating salad bar the numbers have slowed, but they didn't stop all together. The individual apartments had to go in.

I cut up a big length of curved PVC pipe and we dropped them in (sections 20 - 30cm) and everyone seems to be happy now. The littler fish have somewhere to hide and there is one piece under the ladder for the bully. I haven't found a "flying fish" for a couple of days now.

The fish learnt very quickly about the advantages of eating fish pellets (smart / hungry creatures) and the couple of pinches they get twice a day get gobbled up pretty fast!

We'll go fishing on another stretch of the creek this weekend and see what else we can get. I'm also going to go and find some duckweed too.

.

soup anyone??

I'm fairly sure we put some fish in that tank... Bloom!

I'm waiting on my new pump from Murray (not nagging Muzz, just waiting!)

We should have all the plumbing for the two beds up by then. The steel beams went up yesterday for the greenhouse, the timber ones will go up in the next few days. At least with the steel up I can start putting some of the plumbing up into the roof.

Si it's gone from crystal clear to pea soup in less than a week? Sounds like a job for a black plastic cover

I've just brought home a heap of polystyrene lids and some seedlings. Might as well get something out of this! The lettuce and wongbok I put in a week ago are thriving.

I've got five more lids, some strawbs and various lettuce and other leafies.

Mon, if I put black plastic over the top I'd probably boil those tiny fish! The shadecloth should be enough for now. And it wasn't less than a week, it was 10 days, more than enough time for soup!

Maybe I'm imagining things, but the soup seems to be clearing. I can see about 30cm into the water now, whereas two days ago we were lucky to see about 5cm.

I collected some duckweed on Wednesday and put it in the tank. I put most of it into two floating cages to stop it swirling all over the place. But, we've had some pump issues (small borrowed pond pump karked it on Wednesday)
and we had to borrow another pump (thanks for both to FIL). This is a workhorse type of pump and the current is now quite strong. This means we've got duckweed all over the surface! The fish have been doing a good job on the weed and there is only about half left.

I set up one of the bathtubs to try and grow some more duckweed. A few handfuls of chookpoo, some pond water and some duckweed, all covered with a bed frame to reduce small swimming issues.

The styrofoam vege gardens are doing well, roots are growing almost visibly.

I'm pretty sure there is still fish in the tank, even though I haven't actually seen any of them since Sunday.

All the local creeks are drying up. Alligator Creek dropped about 20cm in a week, nearly not flowing now. No more fishing trips there until the Wet. Or swimming visits either :(
