hi guys, i have been around for a little while and i thought it about time i posted a thread on my little system.
it started of as one 500 ltr blue aquaculture fish tank with a bio filter then i attached two more 500 ltr fish tanks then i found this awesome site about back yard aquaponics! so i started adding grow beds and planted some veg, the system is a work in progress as i am always looking for better ways of setting it up, i am really in to it for the fish first up and the veggies are a bonus.
the system consists of
3 500 ltr fish tanks
1 half 44 gal drum as a sump
9 40 ltr plastic tub grow beds
1 60 ltr grow bed with a lily of some type growing in it,
1 3000 ltr an hour pump that pobably pumps less than half that,

the system is continues flow with the flow being split through the bio filter to make up for the short fall in grow beds that i intend to sort out as time goes on.

the system curently holds
15 trout
around 70 silvers from about 2gr to 400gr
1 jade perch that might be around 750gr
2 tandanis cats
6 small bream
and about a dozen yabbies

thanks Nocky, the little silvers are in a tank of there own as are the trout, thats the good thing about having multiple tanks, you can have different species or different size and age groups.

cheers

Yes, very nice silverbeet in that bed.

What is in the very back corner, I realize it's probably not AP grown, but looks interesting.

hay earthbound, it is AP growing but i don't know what it is, i think it is some kind of lily, i got it from a friend some time ago and added it to my system, it grows well through the winter which is handy for the trout but it stops growing through the wormer months but that's ok as the veg do well then.

cheers.
