Anyone know of a good source of Isa Brown Pullets in Perth?

I also need two old steel wheels (like off old wheelbarrows) if anyone has any they want to part with - I need to deal with the weight factor and don't want rubber wheels?

Shopping trolley wheels are rubber but are designed to hold weight. Ask them if they have any broken trollies. Remove the wheel and run in fixed on a bolt.

Have you ever tried pushing a loaded shopping trolley over grass!

They move a lot easier when they're fixed in one direction. Have 2 under a 200kg gate for the last 6 years. Opened and closed once a day.

Nice. How much of the ground do they clean up in a day.

We have found best to move every other day unless we get a lot of rain then move daily. If they stay in one place too long it takes the grass forever to recover from the nitrogen and scratching. Rain accelerates their ability to uproot every weed...

Easy to move and we are adding external waterers this week, so the job is getting easier all the time. Moving is a snap. Lift the gated end, and pull. Weighs about 65lbs.

Thanks,

CB

Two isa brown pullets arrived today and one is already laying. Coup is 90% complete, just need to finish a bit of flashing, cut the hatches for each layer box in the back and cut down a mesh door for the front so that it can be opened and closed to let them roam. Made my own self feeder out of a 3 litre olive oil tin and a length of 90mm stormwater pipe, it can be filled from the access to the nest boxes.

I have all but given up on the old spoked steel wheelbarrow wheel idea as the collector shops want a fortune for them and I will probably make some timber Roman Chariot style wheels instead.

Been lucky and managed to use left over tin, fasteners and flashings for the entire coup and only had to buy 6 bolts

My daughter tested out the nesting boxes before I put the back on and gave it the thumbs up :D

Nice simple design, I like it! Looks really nice!
I really like the way the PVC pipe feeder hopper goes straight in to the next box area for easy outside access!

She (Maya) is 13 months and is loving the chooks, I have been away all week on camp and she has been driving her mum and my parents mad wanting to go out and see the chooks and collect eggs every other minute of the day.

I am hoping to get a chance to finish the layer box doors and put some wheels on it this weekend so it can be moved around but the AP system is also calling me to fit the two new GB's I bought :D

Well I sat on Santa's knee and begged for a chicken coop......
The pricing looks good so Santas BOSS ,, my BOSS and the Kids BOSS ( also known as loving wife) agreed.

How the hell does someone make that for that price?

Still have not put the wheels on mine or finished the front door, chooks are happily in it but the front is still clamped on and it gets moved with two fridge trollies - I reckon it weighs about 250kg

Not sure how they make it so cheap ,, but I am hoping it's a made-in-Vietnam product ,, I bought a cot / change table set about 2 years ago ( made in vietnam) , TOP quality , really well made and cheap.
I figured at least if I get a pre-made coop I can stop mucking around with that ,, i mean i did plan on starting my AP system ummm umm 2 years ago!!!!!! :colors:
I have actually started on my Quail cages ,, should have that done in a week or two ( so reality is maybe 12 months)

The kids are at the right age to get into good habits , feeding the chooks etc ,, they are 3 and half and 2.
