Eating insects is ok, just don't look at it before eat. I did find that when eat ants in stir-fry it reduce my heart burn from ulcer a lot and effect stay for nearly one week.
I wish all cat owners have same good attitude as you ....., and keep their animal inside houise or inside their property.

France has laws against cats going on other people land??? WOW , for first time I can say VIVA LA FRANCE

Neem is 100% organic it is pure oil from the neem tree, and cures fungies, viruses and bacterias as well as bugs, etc... It basically makes them fly away too, but if fishes can be in danger from neem... ?

Do not use Neem Oil anywhere near fish or other aquatic species!! It will kill them!
Do a search on Neem in this forum for more information.

Cheers IanK

Sorry, should have explained about the search function.
This is a quote from scientific advice I received about the use of Neem based products.

Quote:
The short answer is do not use Neem "anything" for any crustacean. Its primary function is to interfere with the molting cycle of insects through the interuption of the molting hormone (ecdysteroids) to break the growth/life cycle. That said, it will do the same with any other crustacean that molts to grow. Further the Neem based products have been found to retard the growth in Talapia. Knowing that, from my point of view I would not use it anywhere near any other species of fish either.

I was asking because I wanted to grow out crabs in a salt water system (Mariponics??) using Neem as a bio control on the salt tolerant plants.

Cheers IanK

???? You do not have laws against wandering animals ? Here it is easy : The neighbours don't wana keep the cat/dog inside ? Well, you tell them you gonna bring it at the vet's for it to be sent at the pound.
Only, very few people 1- Dare do it 2- know they can do it.

But it should be true in every country :

Wandering animals are forbidden because they can spread dangerous diseases at ultra fast speed. That they are wearing "a collar" or even an ID chip (mandatory in France and all Europe now) doesn't spare them extermination if their owners don't come, pay the fine (80 euros) and free them from the pound in less than 48 hours when they get caught by the hygiene services. And a pet with only a medal or a collar would be executed on the spot : No claiming back when no ID chip is found...Not even if your name and address and phone are written in gold! When I tell my clients about that, they suddenly gulp. But it is only true, no "bragging" from me.
So pet owners, please, if you love your animals, beware and stop letting them outside without actually BEING with them, ready to catch them and bring them inside... Cats die everyday in hundreds for lack of attention.

Cobra blood : Does it feel like alcohol ? What does it look like ?

The ants : I would bet that is the formic acid that helps your digestion. It can taste very bad, but it should have interesting effects... Or maybe it only tastes bad when they are not cooked ? A friend of mine told me so. But he had not tried them cooked. Any chemist here, knowing what formic acid becomes when heated ?

Idea : And what if people would look closely at their MEDICATIONS components, just to re-think their priorities in life, in matters of food choices... ? Insects are disgusting ? Ah. But paracetamol kills your lever at fast speed. Do they know ?

And last : Why d'you not like France for ? Met bad people over here once ? Time for a new experience with cool ones: Take a plane and pop up here in Paris ! You'll love it, all of ya !
Even if eating snails is compulsory right when we come and fetch you at the airport !!!! That and a half bottle of red wine... With a very smelly Camembert cheese. Only I am afraid we're short on frog leggs these days but... We'll find something for dessert.

It's ok, no problem gentlemen !
:D
Some of our cats once had a strong overreaction to a Neem ointment here (their face went all black under the fur, like a beaver's mask nearly, while treating them against flees "the organic way"... Eversince, I was defiant about it, even more if it comes to fishes who are so fragile. I guess it is just a strong product, even used at low rates of dilution.
Still, it DID kill the flees and prevent them from invading the house !
Ah, life is full of choices, right ?
:P

Thank you very much for the fast answer, and thank you for the search button tip : We will use it, a lot.
:compress:

Now, need to sleep a bit, because night is walking fast in summer !

taste very good in fact. I know, because in France when I was a girl, butchers WOULD give you cats for rabbits. T'was not such a big fuss ya know ? Good with olives and tomato sauce. Leaves less of these messy little bones in your plate... And, cheaper, too.

I have heard this from the Italian lady at the chicken shop too. I can't wait for the next feral monster to cross my path when collecting bunnies, I will just have to butcher it.
If anybody tells me that they've eaten Fox though, and it's good, I honestly believe they would have to be crazy or lying... but hey... there's the challenge.

...Go for it !

We'll wait for you to tell us what it does taste like : After all, English nobility did still recently hunt foxes, right ? I am sooooo sure they fed their servants with them.
... What ?
People that used to whip kids at school would have treated their servants poorly, would they not ?

Sorry. I tend to become very nasty when talking about the English people. Remains from the 100 years war, most likely (hey, they burnt Jeanne D'Arc !).
:geek:

Good night everyone... Er. And please, English people, forgive me for the outburst. Must be atavic, and i am not so proud of it really...

Never fear English and French get on about as well as Victorians and South Australians :-D
No offence will ever be taken.

As for foxes, we're still allowed to hunt them here as they're a pest, but I honestly doubt that anybody not staving ever ate one. The smell of the beast is enough to make you vomit. Skinning the last one I shot was almost more than I could bear.

Snake blood ( Cobra) , similiar texture to human blood.

I have problem about Vietnam and about nuclear testing in the Pacific ,, but do not blame that on the French people.

Snails and frog AND a nice Cabernet Sauvignon ,, yum perfect dinner.

Interesting you say not have many frogs legs in France. I am surprised France does not import them from Thailand , Thailand have MILLIONS and is very cheap to buy.

That park around the lake was always opened to the public and very popular with the locals, especially on weekends.
Used to work nearly every Saturday or Sunday in the (libre-service) plantarium next to the park so we would have crossed our paths probably quite often.

Have spent some hours on your website and still didn’t see it all
Very interesting, those cats do have intelligence and character,
when you get running your AP system, you will have to put good cover on the fish tank and hide your fishing rods in a locked cabinet.

Dahus, :crazy3: had to look it up, do look like “chamois” ,but never seen them in Chatenay.

Never seen that Aquatic Dropbear neither, very rare but some years ago came across the common one in plain daylight.
Kept a respectful distance, apparently they’re not very fast but I didn’t want to push my luck.

On http://aquaponiquefrance.free.fr/ is also hygicell, active here and at http://www.aquaponics.eu/

Cheers, Steve S.

To Steve : (but you're welcome too!)

Well, you may have known my grand-parents Mr and Mrs RIGAUD, because like most of their neighbours, they were always going to the pépinières Croux for a new seed, a tree, evrything to people their gardens...
:D
But I am afraid there were just two in the middle of a thousand clients a day !
:cyclopsani:
Still, Asterix, Obelix and Panoramix the druid, did their part in French history (and in young head's education !!!).

My website : Ah. The Mac crashed a year ago with the iWeb program locked inside, still holding my work in its little electronic hands, so it has not evolved eversince... I have to finish building entirely the new version to publish it/erase the old one. So YOU READ FRENCH ??? Congratulations Steve !

And thank you for the names of the culprits that also do : I 'll check on them all.
:flower:

Mmmmh. These koalas. Hope it helps keepin the kids in line, at least ? Here in France they have reintroduced (as they say politely) wolves in the mountains.
I subscribed (as a maul) to an ecologically-correct-in-love-with-wild-animals-that-are-so-cute-like-the-little-grizzly-bears website, and it went well, for the big wolves... At least, during the first five years. Strangely enough, around April this year (at last) a few corpses of dunno-why-innocent-murderers-in fur were found, and (crime!) it "was done by men"... The gentle website cried a lot. They threatened of trial(sssss).
Right after this...
Wisely, the Gov issued an authorisation to shoot wolves, after they had examined the porpositions of the French shepherds : Either you make that legal, or we poison them in masses and it is not so sure even a bear will survive it this time... Or something much less polite that the French only know how to write in nice words.
I wonder how long it'll take until the first "eco-tourist" gets eaten in the Natural Parks, while exercising on poo-pooing in the woods at night ?
:love4:
So much for the old wise countries of old wise Europe (ah. Zeus's girlfriend), who conveniently forgot in such a short time that the "great big wolf" fear was not just some old woman's fantasy accross the centuries.

Ya know what ? It is true that Zeus's girlfriend WAS a cow.
