That's it at the moment. I do hope you enjoy the pics, I've enjoyed designing and building it.

It really is very nice Ian!
All the cinderblock is for your planned natural pool?
You must to have been thinking of this long before joining the forum!

Thanks ROO, BRB.
Yes, I started (and finished!) planning our bush hut back in 2002!. Building approval was received in 2004. I will post some computer generated graphics of the final design intent when I get home later this evening to show you what it was supposed to look like when completed. The only things added to the final construction was the little AP deck and there will be a fire bunker next to the cellar area.
BRB : Yes, The Masonry blocks are for the pool wall against the walkway/verandah. The steel posts along this side of the building will be built in by the "H" blocks to form one side wall of the pool. Structural concrete "H" blocks are not quite like your lighter weight cinder blocks (which contain a lot of fly ash and the like) in that we use them for fully load bearing applications. Rebars added to footing, blocks are dry laid (i.e. no mortar joints for water to seep through) and then core filled with concrete at the same time as the base is poured. The pool has a "wet" edge to the West and a clear glass wier to the South wall (Looks out to the Garden under the deck.) The Northern end will be the planted area, about 20-25% of the total pool area, 1200 deep grading up to water surface level with a full height (top surface about 25mm/1" under water) wier wall separating the Plants from the People! Filtration and disinfection by Bio-remediation. Way to go!!

Ian
just had my first look at this post. Very nice.
I saw a white tank you made in another post, can you give more detail on this please?
I'd be very interested to know what they are made from and how you made them.
Also the grow beds in this post look impressive, very architectural.

Sure, be pleased to.

Top Tank;
130 Litre FG tank from Murray Hallam's $76
Same cladding and trims. Except for small aluminium strips to cover a lot of panel joints. Only had left over pieces of panel. 25mm diameter PVC fittings for overflow and some expanding foam to fill cavities (Bunnings $8 a can).

Thanks for that and well done. Its a challenge to make aquaponics systems "attractive" and I reckon you've nailed it. :D

Ta!
Not finished yet. I will be putting a ceiling bulkhead over these tanks (back onto the wall at the rear at 2400 high) to hide a lot of the plumbing twists and turns etc. A Fern Feature of 900x600 will be placed above the Tiny Tank, standing about 50mm off that wall, to use some of the return water from the GBs above to feed the Tiny Tank for duck weed or fingerlings etc, but will be invisibly plumbed through the wall. Modwood decking and powder coated framed, SS screened lids will complete the tops of the tanks.

Thanks again for you kind words. Might even put some fish and plants in it one day!
