A question to al melbournians.

Its a beautiful day today, and i only had one job on in the morning. All this talk of people popping down to the local stream and fishing out thigs has got me jealous!

Does any one know of any creeks / streams in the north north/west of melbourne. I'm in glenroy.

Figured i might as well do something fun instead of just procrastinating.

Thanks
Steve

As a proper Queenslander I only know of one waterway to the north-north west of Melbourne, and thats the Murray! Sorry, but have a heap of fun looking!

Hi Steve,
what about the maribyrnong? I've heard people catch fish in there :? There's a small creek at the back of Brunswick too, the moonee ponds end of Albion street, Merry Creek if you fancy a wander over to Northcote, there are gardens in Essendon or Moonee Ponds with a big lake that used to have yabbies in it, might still have?

And to those of you who were knocking the Yarra... :P it's lovely, just a bit... brown... and brown's not so bad... really... but seriously it's very beautiful out in the hills where it starts and it's not
brown and you can catch non-disease items in it... like fish... and stuff

Have a good one

Its ok to catch fish in the city river system but when the fish have 4 of everything when it should be 2, I worry, but then two heads are better than one....not on a fish that I would eat though.

moonee ponds creek and merri creek are both fairly close to each other up this way, one of my mates place backs onto the moonee ponds creek. Used to be yabbies there, but only eels now. might try my luck with some eels? Any one know the best way to catch them?

rod/reel or set line baited with earth worms at night always did the trick for me with eels in the tarago river (although i was going for trout)

lol, lightening fast reflexes and no fear :D
They have 'big teethy' and they're not afraid to use them apparently...
I think they're also territorial so probably not a good addition to your fish tank.
If you do catch one I have recipes...

Happy fishing
Andi

was thinking of maybe getting another tank, theres a "spare" 3ft aquaruim earmarked for the bin (my brothers) and plumb it into my existing system. Might go for 3 eels in there with some pvc pipe.
