The other week, my kids thought it would be fun to throw some tadpoles into the fish tank. I figured they would just get sucked up in the pump or the goldies would nip at them. Not only did they survive, but they have eaten the layer of sludge at the bottom. The tank looks like it's brand new! Just curious is anyone else has used these for "garbage collection"?

I would have thought the fish would make short work of them too. Know what kind of frog?

I think they are wood frogs, but it's still hard to tell. We have a lot of bull frogs around here too.... I guess I'll find out once they grow up!

My goldies are only about 3 inches and the tadpoles are about 1/2"...I guess just a bit too big for them.

If it's bull frog tadpoles when they grow up they will eat the goldies that are under 4". I have caught bullfrogs with 4" bluegills in them. Adult bullfrogs are good eating too!

Frogs are extremely popular in Thailand ,, I seen a number of frog farms over the years ,, they all went bust,,,not sure why.

Come on Milne, batter fried bull frog legs go great with beer and waitresses really like it when you ask if they have frog legs and give an obvious look at their legs and ask them to hop over to the bar and fetch another pitcher of beer!

Be wary... your frogs may not be able to climb the tank walls... not all frogs have suction cup feet. It would be such a shame to have them drown. Perhaps some Lilly pads or something would ensure survival until you knew what they were... some polystyrene might do the trick.

Hum, I expect my big catfish would love some frogs to eat.

A stick propped at an angel so the frogs can climb out might be a good idea if you want to let them escape. I have to leave sticks in buckets or containers that I let collect rain water or I sometimes get deal lizards since they get tired and drown if they can't climb out.
