THanks mate... and knowing this feeling is something I desperately wish none of us had to learn - now I need to learn to live with it...

I know we are getting together at Joel's place on Nov 19. Perhaps pass the hat around then.

I am sitting here with tears filling up my eyes. I am SO SAD for your loss, Damian. I have 3 boys, all watermad, and I cannot comprehend how I would cope if I were in your position. You are in my prayers.

Your memorial sounds beautiful.

Louise

I have made a start....
I ordered a pump (24 volt), and purchasd a preformed pond, all of which were given to me at just above cost :)
I have also slowly started to shape the end where the waterfall will be and we have made a start on digging out the hole for the pond pictured below.

I am going to need a HECK of a lot of rock for this... I had better start collecting the stuff soon too as I would LIKE to have the waterfall started before christmas day.

The old sand filter in the background of the third photo will be cut in half and used as a "pond" at the foot of the waterfall... then between the waterfall and the pond will be a converted plastic fishtank which will be filled with smaller stones (trying to create a riverbed image) which will be the 'filter' - it will be planted with all sorts of plants to help filter the water for the goldies I intend to put in the pond.

Looks like a lovely spot for a fitting tribute.

I get a heap of large rocks for my garden from housing development sites where I live. The construction crews are usually helpful and sometimes load my trailer with rocks using their escavators :D. Maybe you could look into this in your area.

I look forward to seeing your progress.

in Cairns developers SELL their rocks as everybody seems to want them :(
I will be making trips to the local rivers/streams for my rocks by the looks of things

There are always those nice white rocks on the 'beaches' on the way to Port Douglas. Of course you would never take those as it would no doubt be in breach of several laws.

I trimmed the old sand filter down to size today, and water tested the "filter" section of the preposed stream today - both are now ready to go in the ground, which is what I will be working on later this arvo

I went and laid out the ponds as they will be burried when the memorial pond is finished - below are 2 images of the preposed layout (pre burial) - they will be linked with wide, shallow guttering, which in turn will be disguised by rock, stone work and plants.
