go royale! you'd thihk that they would hav updated the specs on it.

I've been out of the process controld game for years now, so all this info comes second hand from my mate who does automation for a living. His products of choice are red lion very sexy HMI touch screens, but not priced for us :)

Had a play with the ladder logic od the smart relay. very functional, but i was having bugger of a time setting up a program for a two bucket flood and drain cycle with two inlet soleniods. Might have been becasue i was tried, sick and it was 2 am. :)

Will post a few samlpe programs as i play with it. Les the first one is for you :)

Good, I'll field test it - then modify it - then break it - then put it all together again :la: :la: :la:

Now this has been fun - really really enjoyable

Ball valves 25mm (1") 2 way with electric actuator (24vac) over $600

Solenoid valves 25mm direct action ~$330

Tried to get info on what sized pump to overcome 70kpa and was shown one with output of 1mpa that would do the job - certainly would.

Janet's idea of individual pumps being timed or synched via the smart relay is looking a better option or remaining with a parallel feed

Back to the drawing board

Ladies and gents I have OEM pricing (is slightly better than retail, but not much) for the onetemp stuff. The 2 new ones are 8in/4out and 14in/8out, expansions are 12in/8out, all are available as 120/240VAC or 12/24VDC. Screens are an optional extra, cable is now USB. Those that are interested please PM for specific prices.

Well done Royale, the USB cable is definitely a great improvement - have Pm'd you.

Now back to valves - seeing that valves are a bit hexxy, thinking of using/designing a solenoid diverter (ie use a solenoid to lift a flap)

just not gonna let this beat me :compress:

Les, have a look online for homemade pinch valves, they easy to make but need to be made more durable. Heres a really simple one: http://www.instructables.com/id/EL90UQD ... /?ALLSTEPS

I immediately thought it has potential for AP use. Another easy one to do is to convert a butterfly valve with a heavier duty servo motor.

Yes, instructables is a really good website, for all sorts of stuff that you never thought of building or creating. Check out www.makezine.com/blog for all sorts of crazy things to build, and some not so crazy.

Tim, great sites - did a bit of thinking on how to make a diverter and this is the prototype idea:

1) have one input and (x) outputs from a plastic box
2) put one of these devices on the output pipes (water would flow the opposite from its normal use)
3) go to a hobby shop and get all that "U-beaut" stuff they use to adjust ailerons and flaps and stuff, the rods
4) connect one end to trap lid and other to a solenoid from Jaycar
5) energise solenoid - flap lifts up, de-energise and flap falls down

Put one on each output and play musical tunes - now it probably wouldn't seal perfectly but with each outlet running to a GB it doesn't matter if there is slight leakage, 99% of the water flow would go to the correct bed

Looked at servo's, but don't know enough about them (as yet)

Anyway - it is good to see others are working on the idea also

Forgot the pic:

pop down to a bargain car audio place, u got JB hi-fi there?

There are times when central locking kits (4 strong actuators) go for like $35

You mean something like this? *Door Lock Kit*

and would you need extra relays?*Power lock relay*

thats the one! Nah, just run it through an external relay connected to the smart relay. masure the current drawn by a single actuator to chose an apropriate relay, shouldn't be more than 5 amps at 12VDC
