Hi everybody.

I am new to aquaponics. I am hoping/planning to turn a small simming pool into an aquaponic system with fish OR a system for geese!

I am finding difficulty finding info on this and hope someone out there may have done it already so that I don't have to re-invent the wheel!!!

There is a Duckaponics thread somewhere. search for Duckpond I think.

You mention a small swimming pool. Just to let you know, some people have tried using the small inflatable top kiddie pools for stuff but most have tried to get away from that since they tend to fail eventually. It is best to try for materials that will be fish and food safe in the long run too.

So is this an in ground or above ground pool or do you not have the pool yet? Will this just be a pool for the system or is it to be a aquaponic swimming pool for swimming as well as for fish?

There are actually quite a few swimming pools in use on this forum. Some are swimming pools converted into Aquaponic systems. Others are natural pools for swimming without chemicals. Others are regular pools converted to chemical free aquaponics use but lightly stocked for swimming and growing food and energy savings. And then there are the people who have tried to use cheap kiddie pools as fish tanks but most of those systems have been rather short lived.

Welcome and we look forward to seeing your system thread in Member systems. We love pictures. No need to have a system yet in order to start a thread. Perhaps just a shot of the proposed location and what parts you have on had already can help get you started with links to similar systems that can give you ideas and improvements for your system.

Things that can help people help you include...... What kind of fish do you like, what kind of plants do you want to grow, how big a system, space for system, sun, climate, source water?

Welcome!!!!!

Wow! Thank you for all the info. I think I have found the right place for help!
We are in NSW but just outside ACT, having recently purchased. When we have unpacked our boxes and returned from my son's wedding I will start taking photos.
There is an inground swimming pool and no other equipment as yet.
Thanks
Ceri
