I noticed pepper plants are not on this list. A few years ago I had some ok peppers, and thought that they were not great due to just getting started and not having the right sun or something. This year, I lost all pepper plants, they either wanted more water than normal, or they dried up. They also attracted aphids like crazy. Any one with info on peppers?

just noticed this posting and realised that those folks on the top half of the world might not know that we call them capsicums, mine have done really well by the way :) which is a real treat cause im stuffed if i can keep them in dirt

also had good success with strawberys and cellery but les than great with brocoli cauliflower brussel sprouts

Cheers

Just harvested 7kg capsicums, eggplants are going crazy, cherry tomas are abundant and basil pesto has been beautiful.
The barramundi tasted great too! :)

Thanks Pete, I should have thought that capsicums is a name for peppers since we get capzasin cream, meaning hot pepper oil for aching muscles. I have replanted some seeds and so far they are ok.

capsaicin is the compound in chillis / hot peppers thats responsible for the burn

the cream is a counter irritant cream
by overstimulating teh nerves it soothes the pain

Oz vs US

Capsicum = Bell pepper

Chilli = Hot Pepper

Bird chilli = Pequin

Sunshine! We picked red capsicum last Friday for our BBQ at the shop. Looking at the recent weather it is almost time to plant them again. My, how the seasons come around so quickly. :)

Here is a mini capsicum that I have has resulted in good crops. They are sweet and taste great on their own, in salads or lightly steamed, I may be wrong but believe they are called "Jimmy Nardoo"

If you check my thread you will see some bell peppers ,they are hotter than a capsicum but not as hot as a chilli.
They produce buckets of bells and when everthing goes belly up with you system they will be the only thing left growing.My capsicums are doing well also,when you have a greenhouse you can get a few years out of these plants.

Our cauliflowers (brassica oleracea) have proved a success!
One whole growbed has produced enough to keep us quiet!
Guess what we are having for supper tonight!
Cauliflower cheese!
