Hi All
Has anyone had any experience transfering fish from saline water to fresh water.
Unfortunatley I wasn't able to find out the salt content but on taste it is quite high but not undrinkable.
Do they need any aclimatization before putting them in fresh water?
Thanks
John

John bought my trout from a farmer who keeps them in a salty dam and put them straight into my tank, no problems

Thats what I am looking at Nocky, couple of cartons for a dozen big ones sounds like a fair deal!
He recons they taste like mud out of the pond so will have to see if they improce in a tank. I might get a regular supply and flush them out for him.

Not a problem for Trout going from salt to fresh, Sea Trout will swim up out of Estuaries and into freshwater to spawn. Going the other way the fish have to be a certain size before they can handle full sea water though.
