I am a bit nervous about getting trout or edible fish as I keep reading of all the deaths other people are suffering. I think I will go with goldfish as I have had them before is little ponds in the garden. I know what to expect, I have never had much to do with raising fish.

Dale, We see a lot of people do stupid things and thats why they lose fish quite often.
Trout are more than likely quite a bit cheaper than goldfish and as long as the water temp is right, you have good water turn over and air supply and don't overstock or overfeed you can have good results. Don't cause the fish stress by changing huge volumes of water or making sudden changes, don't play with the water and add lots of different nutrients, allow the system to settle in slowly and keep the bottom of the fish tank free from uneaten food and debris. It really can be very simple and safe.
