Well thanks BK I have no idea what's happening so thanks for some sort of explanation BK,

lol I always thought pm stood for Private Message, thanks for that mate ;)

BK I am not getting into any argument, but that was a genuine thanks for info, you should be lucky I didn't publish the contents PM here as it was crap, but read my PM and that's the way it is, people thank others for pm's all the time, unfortunately I thanked you before I knew what the story was, but this thread is not about PM's it is about licenses and regulations, not that it is a direction I am heading. I just find it interesting to see how states vary, and in some instances ridiculous, so if you have info on how your state fairs, please feel free to comment

Have no idea what the last word means, so an average aper can have trout in SA, but they are hard to buy? I notice one farm in Tooperang (Hope that's right it's a few EB's down the track :drunken: ) sells trout, are they then expensive? as i said before people say WA is behind  but no doubt their would be some sort of restrictions in WA........Maybe, Troutman :?:

Yeah Nocky a few of us do have trout in our AP. Tooperang is about 30 min drive from me and they sell fingerlings for around 70c depending on the size and quantity

70c is a good price, Troutman is also well priced here, but at another hatchery South of Perth April price is $3.50, now price $5.00, but the License thing is a joke, if you are already licensed to deal in fish then adding to it should be a simple exercise, another Govt Money Making Scheme
KEXIV how will you go with trout in the pool, when they start jumping at feed time they will end up in your wifes part of the poo....l

I think the rules and regs for aquaculture licences were carved out in stone many years back and dont seem to ever be upgraded.
Some of the restrictions on my licence are an absolute joke though I had better not go into that here.
I can see why there are different restrictions for different species of fish though. Murray Cod are hard to get a licence to farm over here as fisheries are worried that they will ultimately be released into public waterways and decimate the native marron population which is a lucrative recreational fishery.

Gav I think the marron population is suffering anyhow, waterways are less, some guys here buy their marron license, camp out for 2 days and end up with 2 marron  I prefer the easier option of going to mates place with a carton of beer, throwing nets into dam, emptying nets 2 hours later and having a feed in less than 30mins  Other fish eat marron out as well, and yabbies are on the loose everywhere, they definitely eat baby marron, I'll vouch for that, I think even the Mosquito Gambussi eat the baby marron as well,

This trout stuff is some very strange legislation. We bought a few hundred fry to drop into our dam that was only a a few hundred feet away from the River Torrens, upstream of the dam. They were provided from the trout association's hatchery within the grounds of the water dept's pumping station.

Trout are everywhere, and are actively encouraged to be everywhere by the governing bodies of our water ways. As I understand it, they let people put trout in the waterways, because the dont reproduce unasisted in our waterways (with one or two exceptions), so if there is ever a problem with them, they can kill them all off by simply waiting a few years.

Some laws are stupid.

But...

Once upon a time there was a shop selling billiard tables in adelaide. They were not allowed to trade on sundays.

But bookshops where allowed to trade on sundays.

Because there was no law against a bookstore giving free pool tables away with every purchase, a bookstore was formed.

For a few thousand dollars, you could be the proud new owner of a second hand romance novel, that came with the promotional free billiard table of your choosing.

Perhaps one could sell second hand Mills and Boon novels that each come with some free promo trout.

Just a thought.
