I was going to post these in my system thread but though it would be better to see who could top it. I got my Koi today and needed a shelter over the tank to stop the leaves and nuts from the overhanging tea tree falling into it and making the water brown. Eventually I will make a skillion roofed lean to over it out of fresh sawn timber but until I score the logs and the neighbour finishes the fenceline temporary and cheap was the order of the day.

Total cost was probably about $10 worth of framing and hardened nails, everything else was lying around. Constructed using one handsaw and two nail guns, no measuring and no levelling. All up about an hour and it was enjoyable to not have to worry about things being done properly :D

So post your dodgy AP related constructions here and lets see them. Also how long they have been in place, I have a feeling that this temporary structure might still be there in a year or two

How bout shooting a pipe from the AP system over to the front porch to provide drip water for the hanging pots. I still haven't put up the 2x4 to support that pipe better.

Here is my practice AP design for when i do the real thing later this year... it is to filter and clean the duck pond. Duck pond (300 L aprox) overflows into wheelie bin sump. This is pumped up into a flood and drain shell-pool grow bed, which drains into half a drum, also on a flood and drain back into the pond. In summer the duck pond would be putrid in days and i was constantly changing the water before i set this up. Now the water is always clean (and even clear when not stirred up by ducks!) and vegies are thriving. This was mainly thrown together from stuff lying around or scavenged from rubbish collection.
