Everyone,

If anyone had a chance to getting training in Aquaponics anywhere in the world, where would you suggest?
I want to thank TCLynx for her time last week when I was able to see her system and pick her brain for suggestions on the systems we want to use in West Africa.
I was also able to see Morning Stars operation and get a full day of training there too. They do not use gravel beds, so it was different than what I am used to studying about.

Thanks - John

You are welcome, I'm glad you could visit.

Training, sorry to say, I don't know of any training classes in the "backyard aquaponics methods" Most of the training available is in the UVI (university of the virgin islands) methods with the Deep water culture floating rafts and settling tanks and all that sort of thing. For that type of training you can go to UVI, Morning Star, or there is a place out in Hawaii and they are actually forum members as well.

I suppose you can get the educational materials from Joel here at Backyard Aquaponics but that isn't a hands on training.

If you do some internet searching I'm sure you will find several "Aquaponics consultants" that might offer some sort of education packages but right here on the forum is the only place I know where you can get all the info for free, it just takes time and reading.

Commercial systems and training just require much higher densities to be profitable. growfish.com has a proven commercial system and some support is given when you buy the package. Really I think experience is best.

Hi John,

I am in the process of developing a training course in backyard systems. I am aiming to get the course finished By the end of June (been procrastinating for too long!).

Don't hold your breathe Chappo... they're based in Brisbane...to my knowledge they have no Asian staff... and other than the name no asian offices or actual involvment in any asian countries...

Perhaps they have a future intent to expand into Asia... I'm sure they'd like to generate demand for courses there...

The principal of the Aquaponics Shop in Brisbane (if it's still trading) Martin O'Dea is one of the founders of the organisation... and recently ran a week long course in Brisbane featuring Dr. Racocy

Murray Hullam and Gary Donaldson (operators of the other aquaponics forum) were also involved ... as presenters... and I believe the recent workshops run by Murray, may also have been organised under the banner of "Aquaponics Asia"...

Sort of a holding company... to handle seminar and workshop training
