Raising Catfish in a Barrel 1973

I know this is an old article, but it worked for them.
Has anybody read this before?
They had 40 catfish in a 55 gallon (208 liter) barrel and they grew enough worms off table scraps to feed them! I know Aquaponics is much better, but has anybody tried to combine the two?

I think the closer you get a living machine - that is a closed cycle where each stage feeds into the next - the better off you are. There are several members here who use vermiculture along with AP. I'd be curious to see some flow chart diagrams .
