My system is two month old. At first I tried with tomatoes that finally died. The pH was 8.2, so maybe the nutrients weren't available for the plants. At this moment I'm trying with egg plants that I germinate first in a soil tray. The first week were ok but them the same problem that I already had with the tomatoes appear, the new leaves are light green like without chlorophyll. Today I run a test and the pH is 7.2 and about 20 ppm of Nitrate. I have 6 koi 10cm each on 100 lt fish tank. I need more fish? more nitrogen?

Facts of my system
I'm using rain water
I feed twice a day
old leaves are ok
the pump is 24/7 drain and flood (about 4 minutes to flood and 33 seconds to drain

Hi AII

Could be a lack of iron or other trace elements. Try adding some chelated iron and seasol (or equivalent). If you can post a picture of the leaves as this will help the diagnosis.

The flood and drain seems fairly quick with not a lot of dry time so if the supplements don't work then maybe try slowing down the flood and drain cycles to once every 15 minutes or so.

Cheers

Thank you for the tips. I can find chealted iron at any pet shop but I can't find any distributor of seasol on the caribbean or USA. Any other supplemnt that can sustitute the seasol? Any way to buy the seasol?

Wha is the appropriate quantity of chelated iron per gallon or per liter?

Seasol is a "liquid seaweed" product.... try looking for "Maxicrop" or "Multicrop" as an alternative... or order out of the US...
