F&F, that used to be me. It doesn't seem to have happened this time (phew, sigh of relief, touching wooden head)
The forum also used to let me get half way through the 100 new posts and decide (somewhat arbitrarily) that I had had enough time for the reading of new posts and that there was 0 new posts. This happened even though there was 20 or so left to read. Very frustrating.

Okay, I haven't experienced the problem so maybe I am checking the "new posts" differently.

I keep hitting the back arrow each time I read a post and don't contribute to (thus I am not updating the "new post" figure constantly), when I have completed reading all then I click on "new posts(xxx)" and do an update.

Having said that, it shouldn't "zeroise" the count, but as an interim measure.....

Another fault (which I have reported to EB) is the smilies don't work on the "quick reply" box

only happened for me when i left the computer unattended for an arbitary " time out" period. I found that if i keep reading posts every 5 or 10 mins they would not reset to zero.

There are still a few minor hicups with the site, but at least we're up... :D I'll be trying to sort out the remaining issues over time, so if you do find things not working post them here, so that there's a record of problems.

The smilie box on the Quick Reply currently gives the comment "Hacking attempt"
that's a bit scary given recent history

If you are not already using Mozilla Firefox or god forbid IE7. Just open new posts and middle click on all of them. This will create a new tab, basically meaning that it will open them all up in tabs at the top of the browser rather than a heap of windows. Then make your way through tab by tab. If there are a lot every now and the you hit refresh all tabs and they all update for you. Firfox 2.0 lets you undo if you accidentally close a tab which has saved me a few times.

Hey EB, any chance of setting up an RSS feed of the forum? Would be so handy for keeping up-to-date.

I'm getting the zeroing New Posts thing happening again today. I don't even get the chance to see what the topic is.
I've been using Recent Post instead, that still works fine.

What I think is happening is there is a timeout, after which time it auto logs you out. The New Posts list (I think) are all the new posts since you last logged in. Try telling Firefox to remember your login details.

IE7 supposedly remembers my details, and this is happening within a 5 minute period.
I logged out and started again, I'm not sure if it has happened again

At the top of the page, go to Portal, on the left-hand side of the page is a list, maybe 4 down is Recent Posts. You can get up to the last weeks posts in a list.

Heres a test using Firefox and IE7 (Shivers just writing it) login at the same time using both. See which one times-out first. Your not connected to the net wirelessly (WiFi)?
