Well it has been drizzling today. We thought we should get the system ready for the next lot of fish and veg.
Muz had to fix a couple of smaller leaks, we re did the height of the stand pipes. We had thought about rewashing the maidenwell (thinking that the poo in the bottom of the beds must be at least an inch thick). Didnt have to there wasnt much there at all.

The new biofilter is about to be pressure tested before being placed on the fish tank. We have nearly finished cleaning the tank out. Then fill with water and start cycling.

We are attaching the biofilter as we have no room for more growbeds and wish to double the amount of fish stock.

Is the new bio filter going on the return line from the gb. I have a 200 ltr drum filled with bio balls. But was going to try 10mm bits of 13mm poly pipe in the next one. Kind of like a moving bed filter.

no it is not on the return line from the gb. It will have its own pump and run continuously directly out and in of the fish pond.

Cool. Just thinking of solids. But there does not seeem to be a build in mine.

Is that an upflow or downflow design?

My guess is downflow, if that is a filter mat beside it in the photo. And if it is where did you find it.

Well we have been down to Tooperang this morning and ordered our next batch of fingerlings. This years lot will be some what smaller than last year in terms of physical size. We have ordered 70.

To ensure that we dont have any ph stressed fish this year we also took a sample of their water (which is a flow through system from a running creek/spring), so we can ensure that we place them into a similar standard.

oops sorry fellas, meant to mention it is an upward flow bio filter.

What was the pH of Tooperang water?

the ph showed as 7.0, their system is total fresh water flow.

we are just in the process of bringing our tank up from 6, also have 1/2 muscles in their cleaning up nicely.

I take it you have 12 mussels not half a muscle?

or 1/2 a dozen?
