Medlar tree, what Medlar tree?
They are definitely hormone induced, artificially enhanced and supported, as well as being unusually large for the supporting limbs . . .
and the Medlar fruit look O.K.too! :blackeye:

Here is a link to a place that has some real exotic stuff. Coffee, Tea, Cacoa, ephedra, ginger, papaya, Guava, bay leaf, ginsing and more. http://www.tradewindsfruit.com/order_fruit_m_z.htm
This is another with some exotics. http://www.montosogardens.com/tropical_fruit_trees.htm
I'm prolly going to get me some of the coffee, tea, ephedra and cinnamon. I will wait until the greenhouse is built before I get some of the true tropicals. I get so tempted by these kinds of out of my area plants but as I found with some of the colder varities of fruits its hard to make them work.

Wow. What choices! I have always been interested in getting breadfruit and cinnamon. Wonder what it takes to get it sent here?

Chelle, there is link to a page for international orders. At the top of the page just below the alphabetical seed links is the ordering and shipping underlined link. You can drill down and get the info and contact information. They say they ship to all countries.

Medlars are unusual fruits, you have to leave them till they start to go mushy, it takes quite a while for the sugars to produce within the fruit. When they are wrinkly and mushy they are ready to eat and have a consistency somewhere between a date and a prune, and a flavour fairly similar too...

Well my two mulberry trees came in as well as 2 native plum trees, the Paw paw tree is on backorder. I may end up waiting until fall for that as these are probably late for bare root trees.

Duff ,, you paid for lemon grass??? I could have sent you some, it grows like a weed.
Another thing with the lemon grass , some varieties here in Aus are not really that good to eat , tend to be woody and give heart burn.I got some Thai original :)
You will LOVE the shatoot mulberries they are GREAT,After the last fruits are picked , cut branches by about 30% and you will get a second crop.I have the white shatoot and a dwarf red ( is suppose to be dwarf ,but grows 3 metres in a season).
Cuttings from the mulberry trees are fairly easy to get growing , so no need to buy more. ( layering also works)

The Paw paw ,, you got the bi-sexual one??? otherwise need male and female. These when green are quite good for making THAI papaya salad. And when ripe they are extra sweet.

Have fun :)

Didn't pay a lot. In a small town you ask people what fruit trees they have and you get the same answers. Orange,.....lemon. etc.

I like to try anything new. I asked about the lemon grass and the local nursary gave me the usual look.

The paw paw is the bi type. Hope I don't kill it like the last one. I think everyone should try to grow something new that they have never seen before. And if it takes off, give a cutting to someone else. :D

Me too... new stuff..... give away cuttings. Pity you guys so far away.... that Shatoot mulberry sounds good Chappo. Google SA comes up zero.

Can only the bi-sex paw paw be eaten green? Never even knew there was a bi-sex one....

I am going to try coffee next spring.

I'm amazed no Shatoot there is South Africa ,, AHH also forgot to mention white shatoot fruit when sun=dried are a delicacey in many middle east countries and given to kids instead of lollies ( Yes the white one are SUPER sweet)
Also worth noting here that sil-worms ( a possible supplimentary fish food) MUCH prefer the white shatoot leaves and the white shatoot keeps it leaves much longer than the red.
Near any paw paw / papaya can be used green for salads but some are better than others. It just happens that the ones I grew where found satisfactory from my mother-in-laws view and she has been eating it almost daily for 60 odd years:) It is an EXREMEMLY popular dish in the North east of Thailand. AHH so are silk worm larvae ,,,TRUE!!!

A good link and where I get my plants is http://www.daleysfruit.com.au/

There deliveries are cheap and well packaged.

Cyara ,, try the spelling Shahtoot , also try King white mulberry. If still can't find then use Latin name " Morus macroura "

My bare root mulberry and plum trees still haven't made leaves as of yet and I'm starting to get doubtful that they will. I bought them online and are supposedly guaranteed to grow. I potted them and been watering with ap water but still sticks. I guess I'll call in the warranty. :(
But on a good note my specialty seeds came in:
Gingko biloba nuts.. Mental cognition :idea1:
Feverfew............Migrain relief/anti inflamatory :banghead:
catura coffee......hey cup a joe
Racemosa coffee hey nuda cup a joe
Echinacea.........Strengthen immune system :puke:
White Horehound...cold fighter/expectorant :sad4:
St Johns Wort...anti depressant/sleep aid  :sleepy2:
Ephedra..........energy/diet herb :blob2:
Ma Huang........energy/diet herb :blob3:
Valerian...........hum..valium close :hippy2:
Pyrethrum...Natural insecticide :worm:
Bay leaf........Spice food :eat:
wild lettuce... strong seditive
korean ginseng....Health vigor
