So how are the bees settling in Ryan? Thought there might've been a pic or two by now... :P

Oops - I'll up some this weekend (it's a bit wet here atm!).

They seem to be doing well, although I do need to turn the hive a bit. I suspect it's pointing a little too much to the east. Unfortunately, whilst the seem to be active, I'm yet to see any around the AP. I guess they're either yet to discover it, or they've found some more enticing blossoms elsewhere...

Timmoie, that is a great picture of the inside of the hive! I've kept European honeybees here in California and have always heard of the native Australian bees but haven't ever seen any picture (or in person!). Last night my friend was telling me how amazing it is over there... maybe its time for me to figure out how to make a visit.

I don't ever remember seeing any bee like those... Native to just Az or are they found in New Zealland too?
I have been promoting Orchard Mason Bees here. Are mason bees there too? No honey output, but they pollinate much more than the honeybees each day. And they are very gental to have around the house. Honeybees are in trouble here due to mites and an undiagnosed hive killing illness.

I'll post some photos and how to make a mason bee house later when I have time.

I would have agreed, but recently I saw bees such as this on my plants. Look like ants with wings.
