Nice pool, is it for people swimming or fish swimming?
If not fish it would be an awesome FT. A super mega banana plantation type aquaponics system. :)

trim the spikes off with small secaturs and wear riggers gloves, or use BBQ tongs

I've heard of people growing bananas as ornamental foliage plants in Zone 5. I've not heard of them managing to get any fruit without a warm greenhouse though.

I have banannas in Perth too, and they fruit alittle in summer, they are in the dirt though. I mainly grow them for the young leaves to wrap fish in for cooking the fruit is an occasional bonus
