what's it like? texture wise? What else can you tell us, it's very difficult to see what it is from the photo. It could even be fish eggs :-)

- Does it have a different smell from that which usually is associated with the tank?[Ammonia smell etc.]
- Water Temp, pH etc.
- Has the tank been exposed to excessive sunlight recently?

As KP said it is hard to say much without a better idea of the substance and it's environment.

hey guys, yea the pics didnt turn out very good....

water temp: was 29 the day i was there.
No PH lately but normally around 8

I did taste a bit of it... Cant explain how it tasted...Ive tasted it before but cant work out where (probably a expensive restaurant :P)

I didn't want to say before, but I did see what looked like a bit of fish food in one of the clumps.

one tank ( the sump) is uncovered and gets a fair bit of sunlight....

I think its dead? algae? might just be fish poo (ive never seen fish poo in large amounts before.

I'll take the liberty of replying on Siphons behalf... as he's moved...

Yea things r good... I control kinda from remote (get dad to do the dirty work...feeding etc) now I have moved near cronulla. I visit once a week or so.
It was harder than i thought to link the 3 IBC's I now have all the water moving around.

some of the fingerlings i got from neil got into the sump tank, No idea how( maybe in the NHOF very small gap tho) I have pipes connected to all tanks at the bottom but flow wsn't fast enough...added a overflow (40mm pipe) then a no holes over flow to all tanks.

The rain added 700 liters to the system (some from me collecting in buckets under dripping drainpipes)
so algae is back for now but nowhere as bad as last time.

I have a bit of a patio in the town house Im renting here..... dun dun darrrrrrrrr system 2?
I wont be using IBC's again.

Plants have gone crazy
Fish are about same size :(
Siphon has problems every time I relax
Ill post pics when I have time

dasimon: I would recommend having one FT as joining the fish tanks has proved to be the weakest link most times. My next system will be a 3000L FT I assume it would make life alot easier.
