So, has anyone that planted seeds in the last few day noticed sprouting?

C1 - there might be something in this moon phase planting.

On your advice, on Sunday I planted two types of cucumber seed in my dirt garden (a bit late in the season - but such is life). We had no rain and silly me didn't water in the seeds after planting. So on Thursday morning I headed down to the garden to give them a water. Low and behold - they had already sprouted. Pretty quick I reckon.

Hi C1,
planted seeds (only) in my biggest GB (on 22/2/09) dwarf beans, brocco, marygold, 3 varieties
of lettuce, peas, capsicum......lettuce.... first plants (lettuce) emerging on Thursday (26/2) 1 bean on Friday - other beans prob. not the correct depth (too low - seed will rot; too high - seed will not germinate). Thumbs up for Moon Planting

Forecast for Adelaide:
Showers tomorrow & over next few days
Only have water in GB (to start seeds) will divert some water from pond into new GB to start cycling :D

Mostly (there are exceptions) the bigger the seed the longer the gernination period.
The depth on most larger seeds is about 2 times the size of the seed.
Length wise.

I planted into 2 different gb's with a day in between and there is a huge difference between the seedlings that have come up. Not sure which one I planted first. :drunken:

My spring onions haven't shot yet - but hopefully they will still come.

Give it time..
or you can gently get a scoop of gravel
and see if there is a germination or 2.
I think onions take a while...
upto 21 days to emerge
