I currently have one system that has the sump (800 litres) buried and the fish tank (1000 litres) above ground, with 1500 litres of grow beds attached

My other system is 1000 litres pretty much completely buried with only 500 litres of grow beds attached.

The temparature difference between the two is quite large with the above ground fish tank getting up to 26 degrees and the buried one getting to about 20. The conclusion is that the buried system is cooler due to the cooling effect of it being buried and there being less grow bed area adding heat .

I think the general concesus is that grow beds add (and remove) a lot of heat so not pumping water through them during the heat of the day (or on cold nights) will have a marked effect on tank temparature.

I'd imagine having your air pump inside the house, pumping airconditioned air at 24degrees, into your bubblers/FT rather than hot air from outside at 40degrees, would make a bit of a difference. Every little bit helps.
Wavey.

Or from under your house if you get sick of the noise.

Yes under the house is a good idea...
