It doesn't matter who got paid what to push it through, as a West Ozzie I feel the only thing that is going to fix the Murray is more rain and less farming, neither of which will happen by giving the greens money.
The interesting thing here, even though with only 20 votes is that 65% of the people are going to do the complete opposite to what the government wants, and only 20% are going to use the money the way it was intended, this is the norm with most polls along similar lines, so really the whole prop up package will probably fail.
I should change my vote to "Blow it on Booze and Horses :drunken: " and at least go into depression happy
But at the end of the day I still get paid the same as I did last week and probably get paid the same next week, my main concern with moving to new Job, (Parts Manager for John Deere firm) is that no one here is buying new machinery, not because of recession or depression but due to a frost on one day wiped out 50% of crop, obviously if they are not buying new machines then they will have to fix the older ones which is good for me, but then will the company survive on Parts and Service? probably.
On the other hand the Job I left (Parts Manager Cars and Massey Machinery) is actually suffering due to the economic times as the bigger part of this company was cars with Ford  , Nissan and Mitsubishi and the car industry is suffering badly, so at the end of the day I am probably better off than I was 4 months ago (and my pay went up 15k a year as well) so Bring it On

I'm actually leaning toward what the government wants.
I need a new trippleclamp for my bike so I can have fun
I need (as of this morning's disasterous sail) a new trampoline, and half my lines, as well as a warning note that says "Did you put the bugs in?"
I need to rewire the boat trailer, as well as give it a service ans find a spare tire.
I need 5m² of gravel.

I think that will pull me up, may have to spend some of my own money

It will work the way they want it too. Even if you don't spend it, it will lessen the financial load and temporarily increase cashflow. You will normally spend a little extra on those things you haven't had for a while, because you're in surplus.
I just think there could be better ways to stimulate the economy... but I'm not an economist, so don't ask me what, it's a completely ungrounded opinion ;-)

OK here is my take on $1000 hand out,

10 % straight back in GST, if grogg or cigaretts are bought then that is an even higher percentage again straight back to the government

30 to 46.5cents to the dollar back in income tax, from the business that took the sale, leaving a small percentage in profit that would go to the back into the ecomony one way or anouther, so all in all the government wins :geek:

And that's the way it's always been... and that's what it's all about... keeping the cash flowing... keeping the wheels turning...

If the wheels stop turning, the whole system progressively grinds to a halt... and progressively defaults all along the chain...

+1
The government is losing, just not the full 100% more like 20%.
but the system runs for just a bit longer.

My system got bought from unused holiday pay on job change, and I doubt I will ever get in front with fish and veggies (welcome to ap) but I still will expand my system faster than I would have done thx to Mr Rudd and fiends woops friends, Joel should benefit and he will pay taxes and GST because he is a nice honest business man, and Mr Rudd will get money back, not so if you save it, the banks eat it up in ridiculous fees, pay no tax because they are arseholes, the CEO will give himself a pay rise because of all the extra revenue gained by ridiculous fees from your saving, he pays very minimal tax because he is a bigger arsehole, and Mr Rudd gets Sweet FA back and loses the next election because country is broke, Piss it up and the government gets around 75% back, so the option no one has picked is the best for Mr Rudd, so lets Party :hippy2: :occasion5: :party2:
