Scott I went with Marron as they are less aggressive, but don't over crowd and have about 1 male to six females, have plenty of hides, and yes they would escape from Alcatraz so they have to be happy, don't feed them meat, we have what is called Marron Pellets here similar to chook pellets, 25kg bag was $27, but this will last 100 years, about 1 pellet each a week is all they eat

The only problem when stocking yabbies in separate compartments is getting the food to them. You also will find that there growth rates will be a lot slower.

(blanching is the light boil vegies are often given, to increase their 'freezability' breaking cells and introducing water)
