I have often thought it would be neat to borrow a hydro drill and drill a couple 30 meter holes and placed a pvc heat exchanger in the ground. If the pumped water was passed through the ground its bound to stay cooler?

A small pump should be able to handle the flow of water if you had a pipe going down 30mts and back up. You don't have an old water bore you could run piping down that to try it out.

Interesting observation........
After a brief rest from the heat, it's back. 44 degrees today.
Today my water temp rose from 25 to 31 in about eight hours.
SP's don't appear to mind and eat well. Barra don't eat.
I've seen this before.
It would appear that Silvers are much more tolerant of temperature fluctuations than Barra.
Pitty they don't grow as fast!

Thats interesting scott, my Barra seem to thrive even with large temp fluctuations (36 daytime to 26 night time). They haven't stopped feeding - infact, have gotten fiestier :)

Well, despite my best efforts, my BARRA POWERED AP TOMATOES nearly beat me..
I've been eating and giving them away as fast as a single bloke can.
Just spent a week in Perth (complete with the the compulsory pilgrimage to BYAPshop).
Got home to find a ridiculous amount of succulent ripe tommies.
Together with a few other AP delights, they are now on the stove creating a stock of tomato base for the freezer :D
