Having read about chitosan on our BYAP forum site, I am interested to find more detail information regarding this product and its possible use in the aquaponic system.

Of primary concern is the health of the stock fish used in the system, does this product have any adverse affects on fish and aquatic creatures and flora in general?

If so could you please supply some details as to the effects and management of such?

Your time in this matter is most appreciated and I shall forward details to the members once they have been assessed and collated.

Yours truly,
Andy

Hello Andy,

We are not sure about Aminogro in an intensively managed aquaponic system. There are unknown bacterial contaminants and a pH 3.5 may impact on things.

Regards
Gary

I don't see the pH as an issue but the unknown bacterial contaminants :?

I don't understand 'intensively managed aquaponic system' though I do have to manage to feed and harvest :flower: .
Who's Gary?

So has Gary got an interest in BYAP?
Or was he perhaps refering to Aquaculture as being intensively managed :?

Mate I dont know who Gary is other than the person who answered the email.
He must think I was talking about a full scale aquaponic farm or something  .
I would still like to know more about the 'unknown bacterial contaminants' especially if it is already in use somewhere

Probably imported from China, unknown quality control. Lets face it most of the packaged food we eat has an allowable amount of 'foreign' ingredients (parts of cockroaches bits of rat droppings etc)

Thinking of hooking up a 380ltr duckweed tank that is feed from the siphon on one of the new gb's. Will see what collect in the bottom of this. Even if I have to limit the flow through it to give it more time to settle.

Some crap settling after cleaning out a swirl filter. When it clears I tip the bulk of the water into the pool.
