John and Anna at Glenburn lost some fingerlings and brood fish in the fires but saved the house and shed. All fencing and feed gone.

Hi all have been very busy hence no updates.
Froggo picked up some trout for me from Ballarrat (28/03/09)when he got his.
Put mine in, 42 Rainbows and 30 Browns all went well until last Fridays heat when the water went to 23o. Lost 7 Browns and 3 Rainbows before the 3 blocks of ice and a massive input of air saved the day. The SP's were also flashing on Friday so put 4kls of salt into the system all ok again.
All plants are being smashed by cabbage moth grubs. It appears that the only way to beat them is to pick them off by hand. Any suggestions.

I've found that spraying with Dipel usually kills them within 24-48hours...

Hi Alex,

sorry to hear about the trout :( .

My water temp the first night was 23 deg C when mine died but I'm sure they died because at that temp they required much more air than I was providing them.

If it was just the 23 deg C temp then all my trout would be dead now.

My systems water temp due to the cooler nights dropped to 22 deg C yesterday. The hothouse has kept my systems 6000litres of water temp stable.

Hope you don't loose anymore,

God bless froggo.

I agree Froggo the temp is only part of the story. Plenty of air is the best tool to create a balance.
Lost my first SP and it was the same size as when it went into the Tank five months ago.
The others have grown very well with only a few still small. See of SP's and Cats. Not the best pic. The Trout came up a little better. The Egg plants have yeilded well.
