The problem with Emus is that they tend to hang around in groups of 4 - 6 and they change direction every 2 steps, so you never know what they are doing. But then neither do they, and they are tasty, so fairs fair.

If you drive around the country and you might be out at night, get some of those roos whistle for your car, I met people who swear by them. Next to a big bullbar, they are supposed to be worth their weight.

After port hedland and before broome you will come across sandfire roadhouse, turn left and head to the beach when at the beach look for the rocky out crop to the south, yummy fresh oysters, the fish love them too great bait and a great place to fish the incoming tide, Tide comes in real quick so keep an eye behind you so you don't get strandard

After Broome you have to decide go the easy tarred road to places like fitzroy crossing to Kunannara or the more difficult dirt Gibb river rd.

If you do the Gibb river rd ( not real difficult any more as it gets graded after every wet) get some local info for when crossing the King Leopold ranges on seeing some wonderful rock art ,( a few k's off the beaten track ) not like the faded stuff in Kakadu.
If decide to fish when travelling along the road look for fast flowing water over rocks and fish just below the rocks.
thats where the nice barra hang out you would be surprized how big a fish you can get in so shallow water.

First aid Kit, in the top end an antiseptic powder works better than a cream, treat all scratches, bites, stings as possible uclerating, specially if it is humid.

10" thick wollen jumper will help prevent ( not stop ) mossie bites,

Cheers and person thats  with envy.

Kalbarri has a Sea Horse Sanctuary which may be of interest. My kids liked it :sleepy:

Just out of Denham there is Ocean Park for a bit of salt water aquaculture. Feeding of the sharks/snapper is well worth a look.

Ron we are going to spend a couple of nights at the 80 Mile Beach Caravan Park, which is just around the corner from the Sandfire Roadhouse and so will try to find some of those oysters. We are going to be in a 2 wheel drive and so we wont be heading up the Gibb River Road. But we will try to hire a 4WD to get into the Bubgle Bungle Ranges north of Halls Creek. I've never fished for barra (apart from Monya's house) and so will have to find somewhere closer to the main road.

For those of you like me, stuck at work today, here's a little something to make me feel better and make you feel jealous. Only 2 more weeks until I finish work, and less than 4 until I leave :D
Here's a pic of our recent purchase. Took it for a test drive last weekend, works alright, plenty of space.
