Okay, so I'm back to the cannabalism theory, and in this mornings case, 2 minutes later there wouldn't have been any of the little fish left. He was 80% eaten head first, so only about 15mm of the tail end was sticking out. I was late feeding them, and temp is up a bit, so they are super hungry. Took 4 handfuls of food to get them off the boil. Hangovers/lazy bacon and egg breakfasts and fishkeeping don't mix.

The pump for my solar pipe arrived yesterday, so I will set that up today, and grade the fish as soon as possible, as there are a few that are really a lot bigger than most (their punishment will be a certain early death at the hands of the chef!)

I think you need to train those big fish with a twist of lemon. It would be the humane thing to do.

Gee Stu, you had me really worried there!

I worked very briefly at a barra farm and we graded the fingerlings every day. That was really hard on the back.

The people where I got my barra (Paradise Aquafarm) also graded their fingerlings just about every day for the same reasons - no love loss between barra!

Have you opened the valve fully to your other tank Stu? Got the water circulating through the beds? this will cool things down a touch, and slow the little buggers down...
