Today Dean from Grow Fresh aquaponics bought over our temporary fish tank (till the correct one arrives) and got the system up and running.

If you are looking to buy a ready made system make sure you get it from Dean. Great customer service and wasn't fazed by working in this heat.

Which leads me to the next thing... Dicko come over as well and decided there was only one way to start or "christine" the system on a day like today.

He swears he didnt add any humonia :)

and myself and Dicko.

You are not following the rules about putting your hands into the tank without turning the power off to the pump first.

Look bloody good Embi, if you could replace Dicko with say, Jen Hawkins it would look even better 8)

I've managed to get Cruiserette all excited about aquaponics, she signed up yesterday as emjaye so expect her to be pestering you real soon

Might have to come down and visit myself, I am yet to see one of the syphon things in person and it is holding me back from starting my system

Yeah she pm'd me on the VIC Forum about it.

Feel free to come have a look if you like. I only have a siphon on my original system... the new one is flood and drain.

Well the system has been cycling for 10 days now.

We haven't added fish yet. We have been busy and werent around for Dean to drop them off last weekend.

In the mean time we have added some seasol and put in seeds and some seedling.

Quite surprised to see the seeds are going great and the seedlings are struggling. Any thoughts?

Now for some progress pics.
10 days in... the seedlings are struggling.

The seeds are sprouting.

Beans are going off!

And the corn is too!

embi - corn ( depends on variety) takes about 77 days to mature.
...but up to 100 when planted late,
as it is a seed organ (cob) it is best if the seed bolts.
Often, when planted late the frame (stem) will be much less supportive
and may require help and the 'fruit' may not acheive a big size but sweet none the less.
Always best to plant in blocks.
If I have said anything you already know...then just ignore my comments.

No I need all the help I can get. I actually just realised that Corn planting season is not now.

I used the info found here http://www.gardenate.com/ to decide what to plant... For some reason when I was buying seed I thought corn was one of them.

I guess I'll see how it goes.

Plant in "blocks"??? Not sure what you mean.
