Quick update I have almost finished laying the retaining wall blocks for the rainwater tank and AP systems, got to the end though and I was about 50mm to long to fit the blocks in, anyways hopefully all will be fixed by morning once the night shift starts :?

As per usual the photos show the progress...

Ryan, when are you coming over to help me do the plumbing???

Another update... Everything is in its place and am in the process of ordering the parts to do the plumbing... I am planning to do everything in 19mm poly as a flood and drain setup.

Seriously considering some of these to build a bigger system... maybe 3... just need a bigger yard to set them up.

Love the idea of using commercial racking, you can go up along way...think of "jack and the beanstork" with an aquaponics twist
Looking good Dave :D

Thanks Rup, LB... been so busy doing renos on the house the AP install that I planned for my 6 weeks off didn't happen...

I am about to place an order for my plumbing fittings online and am wondering if this is a worth while purchase... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/19MM-HOSE-FILTER-PLUMBING-HYDROPONICS-NUTRIENT_W0QQitemZ180268871536QQihZ008QQcategoryZ43554QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262

I was thinking that it could be used between the FT and GBs for flooding or alternatively on the drain back to the FT

Thoughts?

After almost a year of no AP, I have filled the growbeds with 20mm Gravel, resealed one FT, bought some pumps with 10m leads... I test filled the tank to ensure that it wasn't going to leak, however it seems that the pumps or plumbing I have done can't fill the grow beds fast enough.

Out of the pump is 19mm, which I have used right through the flooding part of the system. If I upgrade this to 25mm would I see an improvement in water flow or not based on the outlet of the pump being 19mm?

So far I have bought 2 of these pumps... maybe I need to go bigger?

I post some photos when I can... any thoughts would be appreciated.

DD

For $6 more DDC.... you can triple your L/Hr....

I use these for my hydro trays... running non-stop for 2 years... and the virtually the same as the SenSen pumps used on the small BYAP kits....

Dave you can always spin your grow beds around later and fit four in there. Those racks are good for tons of weight, we use them at work and they would be holding at least 3 or 4 ton. By spinning your beds you could then add bracing across the beams to support the sides of the beds. Neat setup.

I assume you mean these ones Rupe...

Only problem is that the lead is only ~2m and that isn't long enough to get out of the tank and back into my powerbox... If there is such a beast that has the longer lead i.e. 4m+ I'd be keen to get one (or three  ).

I did my best to get the power as close as possible...

A 2m lead doesn't make it out of the closest unit and back into the power box let alone the unit near the fence. :|

The plumbing so far...

If I upgrade the line from the pump to the flow control unit to 25mm would I see an improvement in water flow or not based on the outlet of the pump being 19mm?
