You have to peel them or eat them with the shell on. No thanks to either. Great fish food. I can order them by the thousand for about 10 cents each US$.

If you get a few more ppl interested auqablue seafood sell 1000 for $160 16 cents each! I paid 50c for mine :evil: but he was local.

also Neil packs them as good as it gets! (unless one day you put a deposit down for a returnable portable air pump to travel with your fish :colors: )

Is there any reason why you wouldn't get a shrimp trap, and a battery powered air pump and go out and catch your own ?

If it's the ones I'm thinking off then they are all through what's left of our river systems.

We have shrimp in the rivers out this way. But I don't remember them looking that pretty. :shock: Will the ugly ones do the same job. And I know that opens up to a joke. :roll:

where abouts are you duff? what river system?
I've been meaning to take out the inflatable and try and find some in the colo or hawkesbury.

My half hearted attempt today to try and catch some shrimp failed. Might have went alot better if I remember to bring the yabby net.
I was attacking some water weeds with a small fish net in a river and also a large dam, The guy I normally buy from gets his kids to catch them.

badflash, if this is the American version of the glass shrimp, it doesn't sound as if it is very prolific .... I don't know how they survive! I'd rather get some of the Aussie ones if I could find them here ......

Egg production continues into August, and females can have more than one brood. Egg number per female varies considerably — from as low as 11 to occasionally over 100. When the eggs hatch, in three to four weeks, the female releases them into the water. The larvae develop in six distinct phases over a period of approximately three weeks. The juvenile shrimp grow rapidly in the fall and spring, but slow down in the winter. There is a die-off in the adult shrimp population after August each year.
