Very true... more anti-mould treatments than anti-bacterial....

Dude, it doesn't rain in Adelaide.

Shadecloth will probably melt before the end of next week anyway.

Cheers,
Nova

Scott I brought 4m of shadecloth the other day but my wife didn't like the colour (teracotta), you could have had it rather than buy another lot and me giving it to my (already full) shed.

KE thanks for the offer, but shade I have will do me for now I reckon.
Having said that. water temp jumped from 24 to 34 yesterday. Neither the Barra or SP's ate. Guess they don't like the sudden increase in temp.
They appear OK today.

Don't blame them, didn't feel much like eating either yesterday.

There are some scum bags around hey!!!

Well, it got to 48 here yesterday, and 46 today, and my FT temp got to 36 both days! All Barra here are happy and eating vigorously :) No deaths :) I was a bit stressy though... I saw on Fayes thread they can handle up to 39?! Hope so, cause the forecast is the same for at least 7 more days - probably more!!!

Just a quick message about cooling... not sure if this is in other threads...
Have lost around 7 trout and yabbies (maybe more today) as my water got up to 28C.... :(

However...bought a showerhead last night, ran the pump through it and turned a fan on in front of it...it managed to drop the temps of 2kL from 28.9-25.5 degrees overnight (would have been more if I wasn't pumping through the GBs). The shower head was only about 1m above the water.
The difference in temp of the falling water was up to 3.5-4C from the FT temp even when the ambient temp was >38C.

You might want to consider this to lower temps. There's some funky calculations to work out how much you can drop the temp by with evaporation to do with the wet bulb temp etc (I was getting -6C drop when using a mist)

Albeit, you lose a lot of water to evaporation (but easy to top this up rather than remove dead fish), and only works well on non-humid days, but it's fantastic for aeration!!!

Check out 'bong' water cooling or 'cooling towers' on the computer overclocking forums for a more efficient design.

Mine was cheap and nasty - but it's working.

Hope this helps - pass on to others you know with cooling probs. It works so much better than my makeshift freezer-cooler hack.

My upright freezer set-up was only able to drop my tank from 33 to 31 over night which is also quite lame considering the power consumption. I thought evap was the way to go about it but i couldn't work out how to implement it.
The shower head is a great idea.. better that running water down a cloth i should imagine and much easier to set up. It took me 10 mins to put the shower head up and 25 to go buy a fan... Versus 4 hours to mod the useless freezer not to mention the expense.
Thanks noolie for such a choice idea.
