maybe fish wee is tasty to bees ...

My dog refuses to drink from her water bowl, in preference for drinking from AP... So maybe more than bees like fish pee ;-)
I find the water has more taste when it has some salts in it. river water (so long as it's not muddy) tastes heaps better than our town water, and we're meant to have one of the best in the world!.

I don't think it's the fish pee, as I'm still cycling with human pee... I do however have med levels nitrate (20-40ppm) high nitrite (1ppm) and no ammonia. There were yabbies that used a very small fraction of the water (in a smaller system then i added the water to the new system)

I think AP water (with any type of Ammonia) is much more natural than tap water, and much healthier than still water in your yard.
Stands to reason that bees, my dog, (and even myself) like the taste of it.

Bah! I know what's in my water, and I'm happy to drink it. Not that I ever drink it in any quantity, just a taste here and a taste there... I ALWAYS wash my veggies in AP water (more cos it's convenient)

Heh Not happening! maybe once I get fish I try a bit.

I saved two bee's today that thought they were the reincarnation of Moses.
I wonder if the fish eat the bee's then get stung....build up a immunity to the sting, then I eat the fish 8) well.... could go both ways  :blackeye:

So my siphon is having troubles again.... it doesn't kick in, instead drains a third to half the grow bed then just holds the level. I'm scared my pump is not powerful enough, I have a algae "pea soup" water which might be slowing down the pump.

C1: I'm not sure what you were asking... maybe... My gb is 900mm * 1100mm * 300mm it fills to drain pipe is about 250mm tall 40mm diameter, outer siphon pipe is 65mm (copied LKB's minus the air hose)

I have just noticed LKB uses a air hose to cut off flow of water, My 1st system worked fine when I overlooked it. :drunken:

I have now made the second GB and having problems (keeps flowing after the GB has drained)with that siphon also.

100 silver perch are waiting for me from tomorrow, would love to have a dream on how to fix the system tonight :bigsmurf:

After over 5 hours of driving I have my Silver perch I also took a few mussels and pacific blue's from Neil (cool guy)
Been outside all night watching the SP chase the glass shrimp, SP fingerlings are 4cm-9cm ish

I picked up a timer from the supermarket to cycle the system until I get the siphons working, so all is calm and excited once more.

Al from Mandurah: Arrrrh ic... well amo levels have been 0 for awhile nitrite very low or .25 nitrate was 40 before I added a heap of water to the system.

also note: my system design has over looked the need for a opening over the fish tank, which will need to be fixed in good time.
