Bidad, I reckon old bath tubs are the way to go if you are on a budget, they are the right depth, strong and the right price. My Grow Beds are great for someone whose Managing Director insists on everything looking neat and tidy.

My brother is just starting to get things together for a system and got a bath tub from a bathroom reno bloke the other day. The bathroom bloke dropped it off for him into his front driveway, trouble is, the bath tub is one of those extra large cast iron porcelain jobs and two of us could not move it from the driveway. ( I reckon the bathroom reno bloke is a bit of a practical joker)
He has no idea how he will get it around to the back of the house.

Here is a photo gallery of the plant growth in my Grow bed up to the 8th October.

The next pix due this coming Sunday will not look so good, "She" has been taxing the lettuce pretty heavily. Isn't it just great, good , sweet, fresh lettuce in just 5 weeks from small seedlings.

Just how fantastic is this Aquaponics ????

Murray,

When are you planning to incorporate one of your 2300 litre tanks into your system?

Soon Gary, very soon....I just have to get time to make one for myself....too busy making grow beds at the moment.
I am working on an idea to make some removable partitions in the big tank so effective grading of the fish can happen.

Hey muzza is there any chance you could point me in the direction of a good website on how to fiberglass. We are looking at making some tanks and growbeds here in Bali and figured if we can teach the kids at the orhanage to fiberglass as well it would be great added experience for them.

Would you consider that location of yours full light or part shade as I am having problems with my spinach wilting. They are in full sun for most of the morning and I think this might be the problem.

Nick - my silverbeet are in full sun all day and do not wilt much at all. This is because they basically have a constant supply of water.

Good one Murray. I am starting to harvest also. It's funny, I also got a twinge of reluctancy to harvest due to making the grow-bed look less impressive.

Nick/VB,

Nick spoke about spinach and VB referred to silver beet. If Nick's plants are, in fact, spinach then they may be finding it a bit warm at this time of year - spinach is usually a cool weather vegetable. Silver beet, by contrast, grows almost anytime in Queensland.
