I have an IOU from Perth Wrought Iron works (Computer Problems) so I will get them to make some nice mounting brackets up. I want to keep them semi-permanent so I can move them easy. I have to go out and hammer a few copper nails in a pesky tree now..... *bang* *bang* *ouch* ...... that should do it!

great to see these go to someone who isn't just looking to resell and make profit. any ideas what these were used for where you bought them?

The guy I bought them from is an solar installer. He goes up north and sets up systems for remote and indigenous communities. These ones where used to power the equiptment at his camp.

Haha mate that is GOLD, and so is your find... Well done.

Perth is perfectly suited to renewable energy setups IMO, it has more "sunny days" than any other Australian capital and is also the 3rd "windiest" city in the world, according to sources on the internet (so it's gotta be right, right? :) ).

P.S. - My finance minister understands that she needs to keep the minister for housing onside if she wants to hang onto her portfolio ;)

Took the trailer up and got them today. I'll post some pictures for you to drool over tommorrow. And no, I don't have an inside man at the quokka. We know the wife of the person I bought them from.

YAY! Is everyone as relieved as I am that the forum is back online after the outage today. I was getting the shakes and everything... EB can you tell us what it was? I moderated a website a while ago and the people who hosted the site 'accidentally' deleted our website. The admin had no backups.... I had some really bad thoughts this morning...

Heres a picture of the solar panels. I'll be mounting all of them except for the two smaller ones, which a mate is getting off me.

I think it will be great experience setting them all up, the guy said he will give me a hand if I need it. I will keep you posted on the system.

Biofarmer - I will definately let you know if he gets anymore.

All they are is a thin panel with an aluminium frame so they are very light. I could easily carry all 10 smaller ones no problems. The two 80W panels have a steel mounting bracket for mounting on poles so they are a bit heavier.

I hooked up the two 80W's in parallel and charged all my SLA batteries. Worked great.

Got one of the 80W panels up on the roof. Took three of us to get it up there. I made some U-Bolts using threaded rod. Going into Jaycar to get some batteries and inverter. Here are some pics.
