Is there anything protecting the plastic from rubbing against the aluminium/metal framing? I just had a thought... Some of the flower/plant growers I deal with with those massive greenhouses (well they're white actually :) ) seem to use what is called commonly called 'hot spot' tape. Basically a white, linerless, single sided foam tape. It is stuck onto the metal frame which leaves a smooth slippery backing to allow for the plastic to slide freely without creating wear like plain metal to plastic would...

Something to consider before it is completely fastened down?

It might be overkill in a small setup? Any ideas?

Hey GLR, I have wrapped special protective felt tape that I got from the same supplier as the plastic around all the frames and sharp corners, otherwise I am sure, as you have pointed out, it would wreck the plastic in no time flat :thumbup:

I have never had any experience with hydro gardening, so I am having a bit of trouble with my dwc channels with regards to what to put in the net pots to sit the seeds on/plants grow in. I have tried coco peat, but it puts dirt in the water. What am I missing here? Should I just fill the net pots with hydroton? Any help would be appreciated.

I can't offer any advice, no experience with hydroponics either, except I've eaten a couple of hydro lettuces...

Have you tryed putting washed expanded clay balls in the baskets or just washed pea gravel(it might work) :?

Hydroton or perlite would be OK. Hydroton is more stable but perlite is easier to plant into. You can transplant either into your big grave grow beds very easily - with minimal root disturbance and transplant shock.
